Quick McDonald on pace at official testing at Croft, being as high as 2nd in one of the sessions.
On the 6th/7th May 2009 Formula Renault UK official testing took part at Croft circuit. Croft is a technical track and the driver's were giving another challenge with the constant changing strong wind.
Over the two days, David made good progress and was consistently quick over the two days. On the Wednesday he only used old tyres as he decided to save them for the next day. Thursday was split into four sessions as the day was split with the Clio Cup cars. McDonald was instantly on the pace and was a front-runner throughout the day. David was 5th quickest in the first session, 2nd quickest in the second session and 4th quickest in the fourth session of the day. In the third session David decided not to go out for the whole session because he had no tyres to use. David's form throughout the day was very impressive since he never used a full set of new tyres and only used half a set in two sessions, showing his strong pace on old and new tyres.
A confident David commented; "The two days of testing have gone very well, we have made good progress on both days. I was instantly on the pace, which was good since I have not been to Croft since 2007. We are on the pace on only half set of new tyres and even old tyres, so it would have been interesting to see what I could have done on a full set because there is a lot of time in new tyres here. Our pace here seemed to be very good and I am just focusing on carrying that onto Donington now which is another circuit I really like."
