McDonald back at front at Oulton test

The seventh Formula Renault UK official test was held at the scenic track of Oulton Park, well known for its technicality and never ending series of corners.
It was one of the warmest tests of the year so far and this meant there was more grip on the circuit making it closer to the conditions the Formula Renault field will race on during the season.

In the morning session David finished inside of the top ten, this was a good start to the day as he was running on very old tyres and many other drivers decided to use new tyres. Throughout the day David made great progress and finished the day sixth quickest on an old set of tyres and was only four tenths shy of pole which was set on new tyres. David was looking good to top the time sheets if he had done a new tyre run, but was unable to do this due to a red flag at the end of the day, stopping the day's running early.

David commented; "Today's test has filled me with confidence for this year's championship, I have had some hard official tests due to straight line speed problems, but the team have done a great job to have sorted it out and to give me a car that is capable of being quickest. I am happy with only being four tenths off fastest especially with the tyres I was using, which had already done a lot of miles. It was unfortunate that I was unable to do a new tyre run because we were looking in very good shape. I am just going to continue to progress and we should be in a very strong position for this season."

Manor team boss Tony Shaw added; "David had a very good day indeed and his best lap was achieved on old tyres, which makes his pace even more impressive. It was great to see David enjoying his driving, he progressed very well throughout the day and ended it looking very strong."
