David has signed to compete in the 2009 Michelin Formula Renault UK Championship with Manor Competition, the most successful team in the history of the championship. This will be the 19 year old's second season in single seaters after taking a year out from racing in 2008 due to budget restrictions; his first season being in the highly competitive Formula Renault BARC Championship with Eurotek Motorsport where he was a consistent front runner with a string of podiums, pole positions and fastest laps.
Manor Competition took 2007 F1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen to the Formula Renault title in 2000 and 2008 F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton in 2003, as well as taking many other established drivers to victory and championship wins.
An enthusiastic David commented; " It is great to have signed with Manor for 2009 and I look forward to a strong year with them. The year out of racing in 2008 has given me time to prepare and I am eager to get back to racing and being at the front. I am looking to win races this year and challenge for the title and I believe that Manor are the right team to do this with."
Team manager Tony Shaw added: "From the very first test with Manor David displayed an excellent style in the car, coupled with his single minded approach and undoubted speed he will have a very strong season and we're very happy to have him in the team."
