ABOUT

David McDonald is a professional British racing driver from Surrey, United Kingdom, known for his versatility and adaptability behind the wheel. His ability to quickly switch between a wide range of race cars has made him a sought-after paid driver, with teams, AM drivers, and clients regularly turning to him for both competitive racing and coaching. With years of experience at the highest levels of motorsport, David shares his expertise with others, helping to elevate their driving performance and develop their skills.

David’s passion for racing began at the age of 8, when he first hit the track in karting. Over the next eight years, he built an impressive karting career, competing across the UK and earning numerous race wins and championship titles along the way.

At 17, David made the leap to car racing, joining the Formula Renault BARC Championship. His rookie season was a standout, with multiple podiums and fastest laps, signaling his potential on the car racing scene. This success led to a step up to the British Formula Renault Championship, where David competed for a full season, followed by a partial season the next year due to budget constraints. During this time, he displayed raw pace and racing talent, taking on top teams and solidifying his reputation as a rising star.

In 2011, David transitioned to sportscar racing, making his debut in the British GT Championship. In his first season, he finished as Vice Champion in the British GT4 category, with 3 wins, 6 podiums, 5 pole positions, and 4 fastest laps across 10 races. This success marked the start of his long-standing career in endurance racing, where he has continued to compete in prestigious championships, including the Blancpain Endurance Series, British Endurance Series, GT Cup, and British GT, among others.

In 2024, David made his debut in the Michelin Le Mans Cup Championship, competing in one of Europe’s most competitive endurance racing series. This new challenge in his career sees him racing at some of the most iconic circuits across Europe, continuing to showcase his experience and adaptability in high-level international competition.
